This Championship Season

Annika decided that she wanted to switch from taekwondo to a team sport several months ago, so we signed her up for the winter season of CYBL basketball. Although she was at first a bit overwhelmed at being a beginner at something again, she soon adopted her dad's basketball attitude of "might makes right." Annika also discovered that hard work and hustle count for quite alot on the court and you could have time to bring your skills up to par if you bust your butt. She was lucky enough to land on a team that not only had some very talented kids, but also a coach that is good enough to be teaching the game several levels above where he is. The only thing that went wrong as the season progressed was that I never got a chance to teach my daughter how to deal with losing as her team finished undefeated. Those kids worked hard and gave up their Friday nights for an extra voluntary 2 hour practice and learned to run the pick and roll better than the Jerry Sloan led Utah Jazz. Congratulations to an awesome team who enjoyed the spoils that result when you outwork your opponents by a wide margin.
